Now we just have to take out the fireplace, paint, and possibly patch the floor, but since we have to put a pad or tile or something anyway for the wood stove, it is no big deal. How funny that we've been living here for 4.5 years with that chunk of the wall all blocked off!

The husband and I made about a dozen of these balloon dogs for the 6 year old's birthday party tomorrow.

Purchased at Liquorama in Hyde Park, NY. Consumed around 6 p.m. with turkey sandwiches and blue corn tortilla chips. I shared this bottle with Drew, opting not to drink it by myself this time around.

Back of the label is dated March 1, 1997. (That's right, I used to soak my wine bottles, peel off the labels, and on the back I would write the date I drank it, who I was with, and anything else important (birthday, holiday, gift, etc.)

I remember purchasing this at a package store in Sunderland, MA and consuming the bottle in its entirety while eating Pasta Roni around 2 a.m. It got me hooked on Bordeaux.

Amazing and terribly saddening that a weapon this size (not terribly big) destroyed the city of Hiroshima. The anniversary of which is tomorrow, August 6.

There is something so magical and majestic about the Hudson, even here at one of its most narrow points. I love this river.
